Frequently Asked Questions

Hardware

What is the maximum payload of a cobot?

The payload of a cobot differs per brand and type. It can vary between 3 kg and 35 kg. Cobots are generally limited in capacity, because they have to be able to collaborate with people. In the webshop you can compare the different cobots.

We work with the collaborative robot arms of Universal Robots, Sawyer, Hanwha, Doosan and Techman. Except for the Sawyer, they all have several versions with different payloads.

The load capacity mentioned is the payload excluding the pressure of the robot arm. This means that pressure that the robot arm has to exert does not have to be deducted from the payload of the cobot. You do need to deduct the weight of the end-of-arm tool, such as a gripper, from the payload of the cobot.

What are the maintenance requirements of a cobot?

Universal Robots promises that their cobots can run for 35,000 hours at maximum load / speed. All you have to do is occasionally clean the fan filter of the controller. In the unlikely event that a joint needs to be replaced, it can be done in 30 minutes. It is nevertheless advisable to have the entire cobot set checked once a year. There are certainly wear parts to be found, for example on a gripper. Such a check-up can be carried out under our Basic maintenance contract.

What ambient temperature can the cobot handle?

This is different from brand to brand. The temperature range in which most cobots can work is 0 to 50 °C. If your application needs a larger range, the robot arm can be wrapped in a protective cover (only for UR cobots for the time being).

Financial

What does a cobot set cost?

The price of a cobot set depends on the brand and type. But certainly also on what you want it to do. For each application you will need at least a gripper or other tool. You have to think of a starting price of € 22,000.

How quickly can I earn back my investment?

That depends on a number of things, including the application and therefore the investment that you are going to make and your cost savings, which in turn depend on your expected production increase and / or savings on (wage) costs. With our ROI calculator we can calculate this for you. So complete the form and you will receive an answer via email.

How much does it cost to rent a cobot set?

Just like when buying a cobot set, this depends on the application for which you want to use it. The robot arm is supplied as a plug & play set, with all accessories integrated. For a simple configuration, we start from a rental price of € 1,950 per month.

Renting is ideal if you want to try out a cobot for a while or if you want to be flexible in your production capacity. If you want to be fully unburdened, we also offer you the RaaS (Robots as a Service) construction.

Software

Software Can I save programs and if yes, how many?

Yes, programs or the tasks that you program can be saved and these can always be called up. You can save the programs on a USB stick and therefore an infinite number can be saved in principle.

Can I have the cobot run the same program after moving it?

then removed it from its place (for example, to have it perform another task at a different place), you can place it back again at its previous location and have its previous task performed. The tasks are stored in the software. You don’t have to teach it the same task again. The position of the cobot must be identical though. You can have the cobot perform a 3-point measurement, to confirm that it is in the right place. Some cobot brands work with landmarks via a built-in camera, making this even easier.

How fast can I program a cobot?

This depends on the path and tasks that you want to teach the robot arm and how often you do it (practice makes perfect – or faster), but it can be done within 15 minutes. The intuitive, graphical user interface of most cobot brands makes it very easy. It is even possible to “take the robot arm by the hand” and make the movement with it while you record it.

Of course you need to get used to programming the /trainingcobot. To help you on your way, we offer training.

How does the cobot communicate with other machines?

This is possible with most cobots in 4 ways:

  • Analog and digital I / O ports
  • Ethernet
  • Profinet
  • MOD bus
